South Tyrol Meranese Schiava DOC “Furst” - Merano Winery

The Alto Adige Meranese Schiava DOC "Fü'rs" from the Cantina Merano is a complex, delicate, and juicy red wine with fine tannins. Thanks to the careful use of wood during aging, the red Schiava "Fü'rs" has nothing to fear when compared to an excellent Pinot Noir.

Above the village of Lagundo, nestled like a true gem, lies a special vineyard, facing south, with a long and extraordinary history behind it. For generations, Schiava vines of the native grape variety have been cultivated on this steep slope using the traditional pergola system, among ancient stone walls, which have deeply rooted over the years.

Grapes: 100% Meranese Schiava
Soils: light, permeable, and of morainic origin
Vine age: 15-45 years
Vinification: The alcoholic fermentation at controlled temperature takes place in small stainless-steel tanks. This is followed by malolactic fermentation and a maturation for one year in 5 hectoliter wooden tonneaux and small stainless-steel tanks.

Alcohol content: 13.50% vol
Total acidity: 4.5 g/l
Residual sugar: 2.2 g/l
