This Prosciutto San Daniele DOP BIO comes from the hills of San Daniele, in Friuli Venezia Giulia, which have historically been recognized for the production of this fantastic product since the times of the Celts and the Romans.

This ham is organic and free from added preservatives, and it has been aged for a minimum of 14 and a maximum of 16 months in the producing cellars in the Friulian hills, where there is an ideal climate for the ham to gather the necessary flavors and become unique in its kind. The San Daniele ham is shaped by the fresh breezes descending from the Carnic Alps and the briny residues from the winds of the Adriatic Sea. The flavor is sweet even though the salty value is more intense compared to Parma. A sweet and delicate aroma.


PROSCIUTTO CRUDO SAN DANIELE: THE HISTORY


The hills of San Daniele in Friuli Venezia Giulia have always been ideal from a climatic point of view for aging. The Celtic peoples who inhabited these hills also knew this well, where numerous fortifications and hilltop settlements can still be found today. After them, the Romans also greatly appreciated the use of salt for aging and preserving pig legs, so much so that in Aquileia, for example, a tombstone of a butcher is found depicted with a ham in hand. The San Daniele was a valuable product of these lands that was used as a medium of exchange towards the countries to the north and east such as Austria and Hungary.
