Salvia Pineapple aromatic plant in pot for kitchen

For your kitchen, we suggest this small plant that will provide you with pineapple sage whenever you need it to enhance your creations in the kitchen or your dishes.
 
Pineapple sage is a semi-rustic plant that prefers sunny and warm environments. It likes neutral or slightly calcareous and sandy soils, which promote good drainage and air circulation. Water moderately: waterlogging in the soil is the main cause of death. This plant needs at least one hour of sunlight per day. It produces numerous erect stems up to one meter tall. The flowers are red, clustered in spikes, and bloom from spring to autumn. Transplantable from February to the end of July.
 

Curiosities

 
This plant is native to Mexico and Guatemala. It attracts many species of wildlife such as bumblebees, hummingbirds, wasps, and sphinx moths. The leaves are used in potpourris and burned to deodorize environments. Its seeds can be ground into powder and used as flour. The leaves have a pleasant pineapple scent and can be used fresh or dried as a flavoring.

The leaves, having a aroma similar to pineapple, are used in fresh drinks, cocktails, fruit salads, and ice creams.

Additionally, they are used to enhance dishes based on poultry, fish, pork, and cheeses.
 
It seems that even a pesto made with these leaves is particularly good.

Great as a snack for an aperitif: fried leaves in batter, accompanied by a light yogurt sauce.
