The Valpolicella DOC Superiore from the Azienda Agricola Marco Mosconi is a dry red wine of high quality, produced with grapes from native varieties such as Corvina, Corvinone (up to 50% in place of Corvina), Rondinella, and in smaller percentages, Forselina, Negrara, and Oseleta, all cultivated exclusively in Valpolicella, an area that includes 19 municipalities in the northern part of the province of Verona.
This wine is characterized by a medium intensity ruby red color that tends to garnet with aging and a pleasant and characteristic aroma, sometimes reminiscent of bitter almonds.
The taste is dry yet velvety at the same time, full-bodied, bitterish, salty, but overall harmonious.
In order to obtain the Superiore designation, Valpolicella must undergo aging in oak barrels for a minimum of 12 months starting from January 1st of the year following the harvest, a process that raises its alcohol content above 12%.
Alcohol content: 14% vol.
The Valpolicella DOC Superiore from the Azienda Agricola Marco Mosconi pairs perfectly with noble poultry such as guinea fowl, but also with veal roasts or pork and meat risottos, like the "risotto al tastasal," typical of Veronese culinary tradition.
The ideal serving temperature is around 16-18° C, ideally pouring the wine into a decanter that allows for proper oxygenation, a process that enhances its organoleptic properties.
The recommended glass type for appropriate service is a very wide red wine glass that, by allowing the wine to breathe, gives the aromas the opportunity to release their full intensity.
