The Santa Lucia pears provided to us by Sa.Ma. Frutta are a rare variety of very old fruit. Incredibly fragrant, they offer a sweetness to the palate that few other pears can provide.
This pear is medium-sized, with smooth yellow-reddish skin. Its flesh is white and buttery, and when it reaches full ripeness, it is very sweet and juicy.
Ripening occurs in September, but the fruits store very well until the end of November.
The Santa Lucia pears from Sa.Ma. Frutta (which we present to you on this page in a quantity of 3 kg) are fruits to be consumed raw or can be used to prepare smoothies and juices with other fruits.
These pears are excellent as an ingredient for jams, cakes, but especially strudel. They can be used in many recipes for rustic first courses and pair wonderfully with chocolate and nuts.
They're delicious paired with cheeses like gorgonzola, pecorino, taleggio, caciotta, and brie.
