Amarone della Valpolicella DOC “I Saltari” 2009 - Sartori Winery

I Saltari Amarone della Valpolicella DOC 2009 is a wine with a deep ruby violet color, good intensity and density, with a spicy aroma of dried figs, marasca, and aromatic herbs.

It has a good persistence on the palate, with elegant sweet tannins and a pleasant velvety balsamic tone. Well-balanced aftertaste with great roundness and pleasantness.

The vineyard is located in the Valle di Mezzane in the Valpolicella area of Veneto, Italy, where the grapes are cultivated on terraced vineyards in calcareous and alkaline soils.

The grapes for the vinification are carefully selected and then transferred to a loft for about three months. The grapes will lose 30% of their weight in the drying process, thus concentrating the essential compounds in the grapes.

Vinification takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks for 20-30 days of maceration and fermentation. Once the wine has been racked off the gross lees, it is transferred to barriques for malolactic fermentation.

For over 25 months, the wine undergoes regular racking and topping up of the barrels until it is blended.
