Dried Sicilian Marjoram 20g

The Sicilian Marjoram dried from theAzienda Agricola Due Palmenti encapsulates all the fragrance of Sicily, the most authentic one!

The name of its genus comes from the Greek word for the plant “óros” meaning mountain and “gános” meaning pleasure, while the species name is uncertain, perhaps deriving from the Latin “amaracus”, Greek “amàrakos”, meaning fragrant plant due to the intense and delightful scent it emits.

The marjoram is a perennial herbaceous plant native to North Africa and Central Asia. It has an upright and branched growth habit, reaching a maximum height of about 60 cm. Its leaves are small and oval, with a short petiole and covered with a light fuzz. The flowers are small, pinkish-white in color. Flowering occurs in summer. It is widespread in the gardens and vegetable patches of plains and hills, preferring loose, even calcareous soils that are rich in organic matter and sunny.

One of the many typical products of beautiful Sicily that Due Palmenti has decided to enhance by bringing it to the attention of the general public.

Sicilian Marjoram: how it is produced

To produce dried marjoram, Due Palmenti uses only the flowering tops. These are subjected to drying in the shade, in warm, dry and well-ventilated places or in a dehydrator, in order to preserve the aroma and prolong its shelf life.

The Sicilian marjoram from Due Palmenti is grown according to the principles of asustainable agriculture that respects the environment by using organic fertilizers and avoiding synthetic chemical products.

All phases are carried out by hand, from transplanting to the removal of weeds, up to harvesting, drying, and packaging, thus giving a strong territorial character to the product itself.

The Sicilian marjoram is presented in a practical bag containing 20g of product.

Shelf life: 24 months from packaging

Storage: store in a cool, dry place away from light and heat sources.
