The Varaita Valley once again becomes a small treasure chest from which these unknown fruits find an exceptional habitat to ripen and acquire all their pleasantness. Walking among the plants, often grown spontaneously among the native vegetation, is to be intoxicated by the fragrance of what we like to call "grandma's". Yes, because they remind us of the kitchens of the past where jams and fruit salads were prepared that tasted like fruit.
This small plum is almost wild, very sweet with a very thin skin.
A small field fruit that tells a centuries-long story. The harvest begins in June and lasts until August.
If you love plum jam, here we have the best raw material that can be used. A small fruit that does not require added sugars and offers very intriguing aromatic sensations. Ideal for pies of great pleasantness. Eaten raw, as they say, one leads to another. Their flesh is firm and when ripe, it becomes particularly sweet and juicy. Excellent for preparing high-quality ice creams and smoothies. Many partially dry it to enhance its shelf life.
