An elderly lady from Cercepiccola used to tell of a love story that long ago stole the hearts of two young people living in that small town in Molise. Adelardo, a young pastry chef, fell in love with the beautiful Antea who, unfortunately, completely ignored him.
Like the Greek deities who were offered rich banquets of every delicacy, Adelardo also wanted to offer his goddess something delicious to delight her palate, and so he created a heart-shaped shortcrust filled with fruit and had it delivered to her. Antea greatly appreciated that creation, so Adelardo decided to send her one every day with a different filling. Antea loved his pastries, and little by little she fell madly in love with him.
