The Goldegg Chardonnay Alto Adige Riserva DOC 2017 from Cantina Merano is a balanced, creamy white wine with a high aging potential.
This reserve white wine made from Chardonnay grapes, expressive and imposing, has found its favored home on the western slopes of the village of Scena. In the dry, quartz-rich soil with scattered marble fragments, the old Chardonnay vines are forced to root deeply, thereby developing the most complex aromas of ripe and tropical fruits. Matured and aged for several months in tonneaux barrels, this noble wine made from hand-selected grapes develops further extraordinary tertiary aromas.
Grapes: 100% Chardonnay
Soils: light, permeable, and of morainic origin
Vine age: 15 years
Winemaking: the alcoholic fermentation occurs in stainless steel tanks, large oak barrels, and barriques, followed by aging on the lees for about 8 months with a partial malolactic fermentation.
Alcohol content: 13.50% vol
Total acidity: 4.8 g/l
Residual sugar: 2.2 g/l
The Goldegg Chardonnay Alto Adige Riserva DOC 2017 from Cantina Merano is an excellent wine to pair with fish, seafood, meat (white), risotto, and “Käsenocken” (bread and cheese dumplings).
Color: straw yellow.
Smell: scent of bananas and vanilla, roasted aroma.
Taste: good savor on the palate, the development is elegant and harmonious.
Serving temperature: 12-14 degrees.
Aging potential: 5 years and more if stored in a sheltered place, in the dark, at a constant temperature and not too high.
