Information for transplanting and growth

This plant loves sun, but also tolerates a semi-shade position, where the leaves regenerate more quickly. It should be watered generously, especially in summer, taking care to avoid water stagnation. If you wish to transplant it, you can do so in all months except during winter.

Curiosities

Its name comes from the fact that the ancient Romans called it “little onion”. The Germanic peoples believed, moreover, that it had magical powers capable of freeing from curses and even warding off vampires.

All parts of the plant chives can be used: leaves, bulbs, and flowers. It should be used fresh, as it has a mild aroma that fades easily.

It should be cut just before actual use and chopped with scissors.

The leaves are a great addition to salads, to flavor soups, season meat, dress soft cheeses, sauces, omelets, and savory pies.
