An elderly woman from Cercepiccola recounted a love story that long ago stole the hearts of two young people living in that small town in Molise. Adelardo, a young pastry chef, fell in love with the beautiful Antea, who unfortunately completely ignored him.
Just like the Greek deities who were offered sumptuous banquets filled with the finest delights, Adelardo also wanted to offer his goddess something delicious to please her palate, and so he created a heart of shortcrust pastry filled with fruit and had it delivered to her. Antea greatly appreciated that creation, so Adelardo decided to send her one every day with a different filling. Antea loved his sweets, and little by little she fell hopelessly in love with him.
