An elderly lady from Cercepiccola told of a love story that long ago captured the hearts of two young people living in that small town in Molise. Adelardo, a young pastry chef, fell in love with the beautiful Antea, who, unfortunately, completely ignored him.
As with the Greek deities who were offered banquets rich with every delicacy, Adelardo wanted to offer his goddess something delicious to delight her palate, so he created a heart-shaped pastry filled with fruit and had it delivered to her. Antea greatly appreciated that creation, and so Adelardo decided to send her one every day with a different filling. Antea loved his sweets and gradually fell madly in love with him.
