An elderly lady from Cercepiccola told the story of a love that long ago stole the heart of two young people living right in that small town in Molise. Adelardo, a young pastry chef, fell in love with the beautiful Antea, who, unfortunately, completely ignored him.
Just like the Greek deities who were offered banquets rich with every delight, Adelardo wanted to offer his goddess something delicious to delight her palate, and so he created a heart-shaped shortcrust pastry filled with fruit and had it delivered to her. Antea greatly appreciated that creation, so Adelardo decided to send her one every day with a different filling. Antea loved his sweets and little by little fell madly in love with him.
