Bordeaux is one of the most well-known and appreciated French wines around the world by all wine lovers. It is produced in Aquitaine in the surroundings of the city of Bordeaux, in the Gironde department, in the lands along the Garonne and Dordogne rivers. It is one of the wines less easy to pair with food and is characterized by marked tannins that can be astringent, especially when the wine is young.
The Bordeaux is a wine that pairs very well with beef, lamb, game such as deer and chamois, and also with poultry. It pairs excellently with grilled meat and with cheeses such as Camembert, Brie, and Roquefort.
This wine can also be enjoyed with sweet vegetables such as chopped shallots, roasted and baked parsnips, foil-wrapped carrots, and even creamy celery puree.
The grapes used are Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Merlot.
