This Morellino di Scansano is a local product that aims to combine the more exuberant component of Sangiovese with the organoleptic nobility of Syrah. Obtained from simple fermentation in steel, it seeks to highlight all the correspondence with the land of Tuscany, thus embodying elegance and sincerity.

The Morellino is a wine that comes from one of the wildest areas of Tuscany, the Maremma. Scansano in particular is immersed in the green Maremma forests and breathes the saltiness of the sea. A charming and enchanting place that tells stories of proud medieval knights between Rome and Grosseto, of monks among the ancient stones of the hills. Clays that have shaped a territory making it unique and ideal for Sangiovese. A grape variety that here expresses its most genuine and wild character with a beautiful fruity component and very dry tannins. The wine for the meat, as they say around here. This is where Podere Casina was born, the fruit of the love of a Swiss painter and her husband for this land in Grosseto. The company was founded in 1987 and has established itself over time for a product that is strongly territorial. Under the supervision of a wise and young oenologist, Emiliano Falsini, who knows how to capture the value of Tuscan amenities in the wines.
Its fruity imprint is decidedly marked and faithfully interprets the typicity of Sangiovese. Cherry, blackcurrant, and raspberry are complemented by a delicate sensation of violet and a pleasant vegetal perception of aromatic herbs from the Mediterranean scrub.
Spicy with notes of bitter cocoa in the finish. The tannin is well-calibrated and not particularly harsh. Pleasant on the palate with a distinct fruity sensation even in the finish.
Pairing. With the typical meats of Tuscany, especially with Chianina IGP meats. Also enjoyable with moderately aged cheeses, particularly pecorino and cow's milk, even better if spiced.
Good with bean soups and first courses like the typical pappardelle with porcini mushrooms.
Serving temperature. 15°C
