The Valpolicella Classica offers not only great wines from prestigious winemakers but also features its higher parts where vineyards blend with the first pastures for dairy cows.
We are in Lessinia, the Veronese plateau that reaches nearly 1000 meters and stretches from west to east until it grazes the Vicentine lands. This area has a dairy and cheese production history that dates back centuries, brought by ancient Cimbrian peoples from Saxony who fled from the fury of Charlemagne. In these lands, the flocks of Brogna sheep, owned by the great Della Scala family, were entrusted to these woodcarvers and stone polishers.
From them, the cheese-making tradition and the first productions of double-pressed cheeses emerged, which later became the forerunners of the current DOP Monte Veronese.
The Benedetti family comes from the very first slopes of the Lessinia plateau, near Giare. At a famous crossroads where the small road leads to one of the most geologically and anthropologically fascinating places in the entire area: the Ponte di Veja. A towering stone arch that merges with the mountain, near which there are still caves once inhabited by prehistoric men and later became homes for ancient shepherds and their animals.
Corrado Benedetti started from a simple shop of homemade cheeses and cured meats. Today it has become one of the most beautiful production realities of typical Veronese cheeses and high-quality cured meats from the area. A beautiful location to visit with a showroom embedded in the rock.
A place for families with a lovely outdoor park is also the headquarters and laboratory for the production of jams and other products such as sauces and ready-made condiments, always aiming to enhance the Veronese tradition, particularly that of Valpolicella Classica.
The only producer of cheeses aged with Amarone certified by the Valpolicella Consortium.
