The Azienda Agricola Cleopatra is born from the passion for nature of a young woman from Brescia, Laura Moleri, who moved to Sardinia to cultivate saffron, legumes, and other aromatic herbs along with her Sardinian boyfriend Alessandro. In addition to the love for the land, the other ingredients that make this farm a reality of excellence are the sun and wind of Sardinia, the quality of the soil, and the sea salt of the ocean that bathes this magnificent island and is felt everywhere.
Azienda Agricola Cleopatra: the story
We are in San Gavino Monreale, in Sardinia, in the middle of the Campidano plain, with its splendid climate and somewhat wild nature. In this area, the balance between the excellent microclimatic conditions, the perfect mineral composition of the soil, and the high underground humidity gives rise to products of the highest quality.
The farm combines the skills of both Laura and Alessandro: a true return to nature by two young people who said no to consumerism, globalization, and the chaotic life of cities. After a long stint in other fields, the two barely thirty-year-olds have come back to believe in something truly possible: cultivating the land to obtain healthy and genuine products, respecting seasonalities and traditions. The Azienda Agricola Cleopatra takes its name from Cleopatra, the couple's first dog, a true lover of nature with a big heart: now that she is no longer here, Laura wanted to pay tribute to her by honorably carrying on her name!
High-quality saffron and more
Laura and Alessandro are direct growers of first-quality saffron, using ancient organic methods and processing it entirely by hand to respect the purity of the product. The saffron is cultivated in the locality of Masoni Frigau: in 1206, it passed through the border between the Judicate of Arborea and that of Cagliari, where military fortifications and important customs royal buildings were located. The Azienda Agricola Cleopatra is also working to reclaim a 10-year-abandoned land, thus adding value. In addition to saffron, many other species of plants are cultivated, such as oregano, sage, nettle, thyme, and borage. Furthermore, various types of legumes that are the pride of Sardinia are also grown!
